Dear Farragut Elementary School Community,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new 50/50 Assistant Principal serving both El Rincon and Farragut Elementary School. It is an absolute honor to be part of such vibrant and dedicated communities comprising enthusiastic students, committed staff, and supportive families.
Having dedicated over ten years to the field of education, I previously served as a 4th-grade Japanese Immersion Teacher at El Marino Language School. During my time there, I actively participated in various communities, including the MTSS Leadership Team, School Site Council, and as a co-advisor for the Math Club. Through these roles, I consistently advocated for the best interests of our students and teachers. In my first year as an assistant principal, I had the privilege of serving as a 50/50 Assistant Principal at both El Rincon and La Ballona, which provided me with a broader perspective and invaluable experiences within the CCUSD community. I am excited to extend my knowledge by joining the Fox Family this year. Drawing upon my foundation as a teacher and my familiarity with CCUSD schools, I am committed to supporting our students, teachers, staff, and families.
On a personal note, I am an alumna of Culver City Unified School District, having attended Farragut Elementary through to Culver City High School. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies/Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Administrative Services, both earned from Loyola Marymount University. Following my undergraduate program, I spent a year in Japan teaching English in a rural town in Ebino, Miyazaki. Upon my return to Culver City, I eagerly began working within the district, which ignited my passion for learning and teaching. The 2024-2025 school year will be my fourth year as an assistant principal at El Rincon, and I am excited to return to Farragut, the elementary school from which I graduated!
To me, education is a lifelong journey, and I aspire to grow as an administrator who consistently serves the community and, above all, places students at the center of all decision-making. I am enthusiastic about blending my experiences, my commitment to ongoing learning and personal growth, and my child-centered approach to support our school community. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet and connect with each one of you soon! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email at [email protected].
Warm regards,
Kana Nakagawa
Assistant Principal
