What is ARTWORKS!? ARTWORKS! is the Farragut Fan Club annual art show, featuring the yearly culmination af art created in Farragut's art studio under the direction of our art teacher, Debra Bianculli. There are over 500 pieces of student art displayed, one from every Farragut student and several from Culver City Middle School and High School Arts Academy students. It is an adults-only event open to parents, community members and city officials. The evening features a live and silent auction of professional art, as well as gift certificates and products from local businesses for silent auction. A full cocktail bar is provided by Mehaul O’Leary of Joxer’s Daly. Musical entertainment will be provided by Mr. Pascoe’s Jazz Trio. The culmination of the evening is a live auction that is always fun and entertaining as the bidding goes higher and higher. When and where is the 2008 ARTWORKS! exhibit? The 2008 ARTWORKS! exhibit will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 6:00pm-9:00pm in the historic "Helms Bakery" building (8723 Washington Blvd. in Culver City). Our children enjoy their own party going on at nearby Josephson Academy of Gymnastics at the same time as the adult-only ARTWORKS! cocktail evening, art show and auction. On Sunday, May 18, the art show is open to families from 10am to 1pm. This gives our children a chance to view the art show with their family. Bidding continues on the remaining auction items. If you would like to donate art or a gift certificate please contact Bonnie Wacker at jbwacker@verizon.net . Your business name and item would be included in our brochure handed to all attendees. It would be displayed the night of the event, posted on our website and flyers sent to all 500 students and their families. We post art posters and put art cards in galleries around town and enjoy press coverage in the local media. Our fundraising goal for this event is to raise $13,000 to cover the music teacher's salary, plus another $1500 for art supplies.
