I am absolutely thrilled to be Farragut Elementary’s new principal for the 2013-2014 school year. In the little time I have spent at the school to date, it is apparent that I am joining a team of highly professional teachers and support staff as well as polite, enthusiastic students and actively involved parents.
This school year begins my eighteenth year in education. I have had the privilege of wearing many hats in my years as an educator. I began my teaching career in Tustin, California with a fifth grade-gifted class. I transferred to Fountain Valley, the school district where I grew up and believed I was going to retire, where I taught with a fifth grade class. That year I became engaged and found myself being transferred to Saint Charles, Missouri; a suburb of Saint Louis. I taught fifth grade, fourth grade, and was a writing specialist before becoming an Assistant Principal at Castlio Elementary where I have spent the last seven years. I have an Educational Doctorate Degree in Administration from Maryville University in Saint Louis Missouri. I obtained my Masters in Education and Bachelors of General Studies from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.
I have had extensive training in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and the affects they have on student achievement. I have had the privilege of attending three PLC summits in Saint Louis as well as working in a district that embraced the philosophy district wide over ten years ago. I have personally watched how effective PLCs can improve student learning through collaboration and intervention and am excited to share my experiences with the Farragut team.
I am happily married, Chris and I recently celebrating our fifteenth wedding anniversary. We have two lovely little girls, Gabby is eleven and Madison is nine. When not at work, I can be found at dance studios and dance competitions rooting on my girls who both dance competitively.
I am humbled to have been chosen to serve the Farragut community. I look forward to getting to know more of the families and having a long career together.
