Principal's bio
After earning a Bachelor
of Arts degree in liberal studies and a multiple subject teaching
credential from California State University, I completed a fifth year
of instruction in teaching reading. I returned to California State
University and earned a Master’s in Educational Administration.
After finishing the Master’s program, I completed an additional
year of administrative studies at Fresno Pacific College.
Teaching was a joy for me
and I worked as an elementary school teacher for eleven years
teaching first, third, fourth and fifth grades. During my tenure as
an elementary school teacher I also served as a mentor teacher
helping new and experienced teachers with curriculum and instruction.
I then accepted a position as a school program coordinator
responsible for specially funded state and federal programs,
technology, and staff development. I worked as a school program
coordinator for four years and then accepted a position as an
elementary principal. In 1999, I became an adjunct faculty member in
the school of education at National University and taught graduate
level classes, in the evenings, in curriculum and instruction. For
the last two years I served as the Director of State and Federal
Programs in the Desert Sands School District where I managed the
state and federal programs and coordinated staff development in the
area of English Language learners and economically disadvantaged
students.
I am the proud parent of
two adult children. My son, Michael, is a music teacher and my
daughter, Katherine, was a computer consultant until becoming a full
time stay at home mom. I have four wonderful grandchildren ranging
in age from one to six years old.
I am delighted to be
serving as the principal of Farragut Elementary School. Working with
children has always brought me joy and satisfaction in making a
difference in the lives of our most precious resource, children. I
am looking forward to supporting Farragut in continual improvement.
